A talented group of Year 8 students from The Hyndburn Academy made the journey to Warrington to compete in the All-Aboard Youth Rowing Indoor Competition, proudly representing the school on a regional stage.
Taking on students from over 30 schools across the North West, the team displayed remarkable determination, teamwork, and sporting spirit throughout the day. Their hard work paid off with a series of impressive results and podium finishes.
The standout performance came in the Year 8 Girls’ Relay, where the team raced to first place, triumphing in a fiercely contested event. In the individual girls’ category, Essie and Ella-Louise both clinched gold medals, with Ella also finishing a brilliant 10th overall out of more than 140 competitors.
Meanwhile, Ally delivered a strong individual performance to claim a bronze medal in the Greater Manchester rankings for the Year 8 girls. Not to be outdone, Cole brought home a bronze medal in the Year 8 Boys’ Open category, adding to an already impressive medal haul for the team.
Beyond the medals, the students demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and commitment, earning praise for both their athletic achievements and their representation of the Academy.
With sights now set on the outdoor rowing season this summer, the team is back in training and preparing to take their skills from the indoor arena to the water. We are incredibly proud of their achievements so far and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next!
