Year 10 Students Shine in Work Experience and Secure Apprenticeship Opportunities

Hands-On Learning Provides Pathways to Future Careers

In a testament to the value of practical education, Year 10 students have recently completed a successful week of work experience, with several students seizing the opportunity to secure offers of apprenticeships in various industries. This initiative not only offers students a glimpse into the professional world but also serves as a launching pad for their future careers.

The work experience program, organised by Careers Lead, Mrs Ross saw students placed in a diverse array of workplaces ranging from engineering firms to healthcare facilities. Under the guidance of seasoned professionals, the students gained invaluable insights into the intricacies of their chosen fields, honing their skills and expanding their knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom.

One of the highlights of the program was the number of students who impressed their employers to such an extent that they were offered apprenticeship positions on the spot. Among them, Maci secured the offer of an apprenticeship with Hyndburn Leisure, where their dedication and eagerness to learn stood out prominently.

Reflecting on the experience, Maci remarked, "I never imagined I would enjoy working at the leisure centre so much. The hands-on experience I gained during my placement opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to pursue an apprenticeship in this field."

Similarly, AJ, who spent his work experience at a Eco start-up, impressed the company's management with  leading to an offer for a plastering or electrical engineering apprenticeship.

The success stories of these students underscore the importance of practical, experiential learning in preparing young individuals for the workforce. Such initiatives not only provide students with real-world exposure but also empower them to make informed decisions about their future career paths.

Miss Palmer expressed pride in the students' accomplishments, stating, "We are thrilled to see our Year 10 students excelling in their work experience placements and securing apprenticeships. This is a testament to their hard work, adaptability, and the support of our dedicated staff. We remain committed to providing our students with opportunities that will enable them to thrive in their chosen fields."

As the Year 10 students return to school enriched with newfound experiences and aspirations, their journey serves as an inspiration for future cohorts, reaffirming the school's commitment to Education With Character and preparing students for success beyond the classroom.
