Our Duke of Edinburgh Award participants have been testing their limits and sharpening their skills in a recent Practice Walk that showcased resilience, teamwork, and a spirit of adventure.

With 27 students working toward their Bronze Award and 16 aiming for Silver, the event was a fantastic opportunity to prepare for the challenges of their upcoming qualifying expeditions.

Braving unpredictable weather and demanding terrains, students navigated their routes using maps and compasses, building confidence in their ability to find their way through the outdoors. Along the way, they developed essential skills in campcraft, navigation, and teamwork—all vital components of a successful DofE journey.

For many, this was their first real experience of expedition life, and they rose to the challenge with impressive determination and a positive attitude. Whether it was solving problems as a group, supporting each other through tough stretches, or taking on leadership roles, every participant made a valuable contribution to their team’s success.

The Practice Walk didn’t just help students improve their endurance and outdoor skills—it also reinforced key life skills such as communication, leadership, and collaboration that will serve them well beyond the trail.

A huge well done to all our participants for their enthusiasm, effort, and perseverance! We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and can’t wait to see them tackle their qualifying expeditions with confidence and pride.
